Yes, we do have spring in Montana. Some people believe it only lasts a couple days, but it will be coming. Currently we are gaining a few minutes of daylight every day as we move towards the "Spring Equinox". The Old Farmer's Almanac is predicting two different weather patterns for the upcoming spring in Montana, no matter how long the season lasts.

Montana Is Divided Into Two Weather Regions

Montana is covered by two different regions in the Old Farmer's Almanac. Central Montana and Eastern Montana are included in the "High Plains" region. Western Montana is included in the "Intermountain" region.

The Montana Spring Forecast

According to the almanac we can expect two different weather patterns for the different parts of the state.

For Eastern Montana the almanac is forecasting: "April-May will be warmer than normal, on average, with above normal precipitation."

The almanac spring forecast for Western Montana is: "April-May will be cooler than normal, with above-normal precipitation."

Start Planning For The Planting

This is the time of year when a lot of people in Montana start planning the planting for whatever they want to grow. It gives us something to look forward too. I have neighbors who have taken out their front and back lawn and replaced it with a garden. When the pandemic happened it seemed like more and more people were starting to plant gardens, to become more self sufficient.

Some Day We May Have Our Own Garden

My wife would like us to plant a garden too. The issues we have right now are, we have a dog who has laid claim to most of the area we would use for a garden and we have more urban deer in our neighborhood than people. I know those are two issues that we can eventually deal with, but for now we will keep planning and maybe some day soon,  we will stop planning and start planting.
