Thanksgiving Turkeys Priced More in Montana This Year
Even though it may not feel like it for many people, there has been some good news for Montana grocery shoppers. According to a recent report, Montanans pay less than a lot of other states when it comes to grocery prices.

However, not all of the news is good, particularly with the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. Even though the country has seen a 12% drop in turkey prices this year, Montana is one of the most expensive states to buy a turkey for the holiday. According to Finance Buzz, when it comes to the price of a turkey, Montana is the 5th most expensive state, on average, to get a bird. Just like with the prices of groceries, the two states where it is most expensive to get a turkey are Hawaii followed by Alaska.
According to the report Montanans can expect to pay, on average, $36.85 for a 15-lb turkey this year; that is over $5 more than the national average. This is one more reason why it is important to support our 30th Annual Guerrilla Turkey Drive.

For 30 years we have been collecting turkeys for area food banks. This year we are doing it again from November 18-22. Every food bank we partner with has seen an increase in demand over the past year. The need to help feed our community continues to rise. We would like to stop this promotion, but due to the growing number of people in need, it seems unlikely to end anytime soon.
There are a lot of places that are offering deals on turkeys this time of year. Albertsons grocery stores are offering a free turkey with a qualifying purchase on their app. Walmart is offering Jenny-O turkeys for as low as eighty eight cents per pound. When you are out shopping for Thanksgiving, please consider picking up an extra bird or two to donate to our turkey drive, if you are able. Thank You!
