Winter in Montana can sometimes feel like it’s going to last forever; if you let it. There is so much that a person can do to enjoy the season and not all of it has to do with barreling down a mountain with skis or a snowboard attached to your feet. Sometimes it is as simple as just getting out of the house and getting some fresh air. There are so many different amazing places to go to in the winter in Montana, it is hard to choose just one. Last weekend we were able to get out and enjoy one of our favorite winter places to spend some time.

Cross Country Skiing Is Big In Montana

This last weekend we took a drive to Seeley Lake to get out of town for a bit. The plan was to do some cross-country skiing and enjoy the warmer weather. It was a blast. We went to the “Seeley Lake Nordic Ski Trails” to do some skiing on the groomed runs that make it a much better experience. We weren’t aware that there was a big cross-country ski race happening at the time, along with a biathlon competition thrown into the mix. Since we aren’t competitive skiers by any stretch of the imagination, we chose not to ski the groomed trails. We went off the beaten path, but we were still able to get out and have some fun.

So Much More In Montana Than Downhill Skiing

The area also has a lot of snowmobilers and snow bikes. We crossed paths with a few here and there, while we were skiing. In town, almost every other truck we saw had either a snowmobile on the back or a trailer ready to go. There are plenty of trails for the snowmobiles around the area too.
