Montana’s Best Hot Springs According to Their Trip Advisor Rating
When people talk about the things that make living in Montana hard, the harsh winters are at the top of the list.
Fortunately, the natural antidote to harsh winters is Montana's many hot springs. You can find hot springs all over Montana and if there isn't one nearby, it's probably only a short drive away. Most of Montana's hot springs are in pools accompanied by lodging, but usually they have a day rate so you can just take a dip if you don't want to stay overnight.
Some of the hot springs are also close to hiking and skiing so it's a great way to relax after shredding the slopes or exploring the wilderness. For others, the hot springs are the destination and it's just about getting in as much relaxation as possible. Some even say the waters are medicinal and because the waters usually aren't chemically treated, it's a natural-feeling experience.
A few tips if you've never visited a hot spring before:
- Bring your own towel, just in case. Most places will provide towels, but you might appreciate having an extra.
- Wear your comfiest clothes. After you've soaked you probably won't want to slide into a pair of jeans again.
- Hydrate. Being in the water you may not feel yourself getting thirsty. You may want to bring your own water bottle, depending on where you're going.
- Some hot springs are open to nudity so do a little research if that's not your thing.
- Have a food plan. Depending on where you go the hot spring facility may not have much to offer in terms of food, or the facility may be located far away from town. You may want to bring snacks with you.
