Spain's running of the bulls in Pamplona has been a tradition since the 14th century, making it over 800 years old. It's a tradition where brave souls try to outrun a herd of bulls.

According to Wikipedia, what started as a way to do business ended up becoming a competition among young men who wanted to show off their bravado. Between 2,000 and 4,000 people run with the bulls each day the event takes place.

The run isn't very long at all. According to Runningofthebulls.com, it's only 825 meters, packed with people and bulls. They get over a million spectators every year too. There are chances of injuries and possibly death, but that doesn't stop people from adding running with the bulls to their bucket list and giving it a try.

Should Montana Have a "Running With the Bison"?

Over the centuries this event has taken place, one thing has become clear. People have realized how dangerous a stampeding bull can be, and they normally give them a wide berth.

That got me thinking about some of the visitors that visit Yellowstone National Park and mistake the park bison for animals that won't run you down. It seems that every year there is a person who gets too close to a bison and ends up paying the price.
