Yellowstone Spinoff to Film in Montana Town, Looking for Extras

Yellowstone is pretty much the biggest thing going when it comes to television right now. The show also has its share of critics, and I'm not talking about those that have anything to do with rating the quality of an episode. Just mention the Dutton family or any other name from the cast of characters and you'll quickly learn who you're dealing with. It will be either be someone that's a fan of Yellowstone and loves the idea of it being filmed locally, or it'll be someone on the other side of the argument that doesn't like the idea of Montana being overrun by out-of-staters who were enticed to visit because of the show.

It looks like there'll be more filming in Montana

Yellowstone is in the middle of filming its second consecutive season solely in Montana. It's been a common sight to see production taking place in Missoula, Darby, Hamilton, and other places in western Montana. And it appears that filming in Big Sky Country will now extend to the latest offering from Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan. The new prequel series is titled 1923 and will star Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren. The show is set to be filmed in and around Butte and the Montana Standard published an article this week with details about becoming background extras.

A TV Guide article says pre-production is already underway in Butte for the show that will join 1883 in telling the story of our favorite dysfunctional family.

1923 focuses on the Dutton family's next two generations as they struggle to survive historic drought, lawlessness and prohibition, and an epidemic of cattle theft; all battled beneath the cloud of Montana's great depression, which preceded the nation by almost a decade.

Stacker used data from the 2020 County Health Rankings to rank every state's average life expectancy from lowest to highest. The 2020 County Health Rankings values were calculated using mortality counts from the 2016-2018 National Center for Health Statistics. The U.S. Census 2019 American Community Survey and America's Health Rankings Senior Report 2019 data were also used to provide demographics on the senior population of each state and the state's rank on senior health care, respectively.
