Will Viewers Tune In To Yellowstone If It’s No Longer Set in Montana?

The TV show 'Yellowstone' has caused a wide range of emotions in Montana and it continues to do so. If you ask people in Montana about the show, odds are you will get a reaction. You won't talk to someone who doesn't know what you're talking about.

You can't deny the success of the show, even if you have never watched an episode. The show has created multiple spin-offs and merchandise tie-ins—not just name-brand clothing but also food products. While walking down the aisle in your local store, you can pick up a can of Yellowstone Chili.

Full disclosure: I have watched the show. There are a lot of reasons why I have watched the show, but the main reason is that I have known a lot of people who have made appearances as extras on the show. For me it's like playing a game to see when I can spot a co-worker or a friend in the background of the show, if even for a second.

This weekend marks the final episode of the fifth season, which is being called the 'season finale' rather than the 'series finale'. There have been reports that there could be a season six. Showbiz411.com is reporting that negotiations are ongoing  to make that happen.

If there is a season six, it looks like it won't be set in Montana. There are many signs suggesting that this will happen. One of the biggest is that creator Taylor Sheridan was involved with a group that has purchased the famous 'Four 6's' Ranch in Texas. He has been using the ranch for part of the 'Yellowstone' story line. It seems unlikely they will continue the story in Montana.
