Sidney Crosby Spotted In Montana Before NHL All-Star Weekend

Montana can be a playground for some of the rich and famous. It can be an oasis and a chance for people to escape the spotlight for a bit. There are quite a few famous people who also call Montana home when they aren't working their other jobs. Kelly Clarkson, David Letterman, Justin Timberlake, Michael Keaton, and more spend time in Montana. Every once in a while there are some famous athletes who pass through our amazing state.

Athletes Like to Visit Montana Too

This past weekend was a star studded weekend for sports athletes and fans. The NFL held their Pro-Bowl weekend this past weekend. It was also the weekend of the NHL All-Star game held in Toronto, Canada. My favorite sport to watch by far is hockey. I am a huge fan. So when things like the Stanley Cup happen to make it to Montana, I admit, I become a major fan and freak out a little bit. By the way, I am talking about the original Lord Stanley's Cup from 1892, not the latest hot trend of the metal cup to keep your coffee warm.

Sidney Crosby Spotted in Montana

According to a viral Instagram post from Chuckie Marks @chmarksiv, last week before the NHL All-Star game in Toronto, Canada, Pittsburgh Penguin, and future NHL Hall of Famer, Sidney Crosby was spotted skating on an outside rink in Big Sky, Montana.

Montana Has Other NHL Connections

There are some other NHL connections to Montana. Jake Sanderson who was born in Montana is currently playing in the NHL. For those that don't know, the Tamarack Brewing Company with two locations in Montana, one in Lakeside and one in Missoula, is co-owned by NHL Hockey Hall of Famer, and former Calgary Flames player Lanny McDonald. Lanny was inducted into the NHL Hall of Fame in 1992.

If Sidney Wins "The Cup", Will He Bring It Through Montana?

It is a sure bet that Sidney Crosby will be a first ballot NHL Hall of Famer. Will he win any more Stanley Cups? That depends. If he does, it would be pretty cool if he brought the cup through Montana when it is his "day with the cup". Only time will tell. In the meantime, I wish him luck for the rest of the season. If he does have another record breaking season, he can thank the Montana sunshine and hockey rink for part of his success in 2024.
