UPDATE: New Owners Revive Missoula’s Beloved Acropolis Gyro Shop
For those that were sad or upset at the thought of another Missoula institution closing its doors for good, there is some good news. Missoula's Acropolis Gyro Shop has been purchased and is going to keep its doors open.
According to a Facebook post, the restaurant has been purchased and is having a grand-reopening starting today. New owners Patrick and Heather Carls have announced they are keeping the restaurant open.
The Acropolis Gyro Shop has been a mainstay on Missoula's South Avenue for over forty years. Generations of Missoulians have eaten at the restaurant. High school students from both Sentinel and Hellgate over the decades have spent their lunch hour picking up a gyro before heading back to class.
The Acropolis was put up for sale last year, and there were fears that if they didn't find a buyer, the doors were going to close for good in January of this year. The doors were closed for a short amount of time, but it looks like they are back up and running as of today.

The Acropolis has been one of those places in Missoula that seems to have always been there. Whenever I am giving directions to places in that area I always say it's "by the Acropolis". It is a Missoula landmark and it looks like it will continue to be one going forward. I wish the owners nothing but success in the future. Hopefully, more generations of Missoulians will be able to enjoy a gyro or an order of Greek fries for years to come.
