The Ultimate Cheeseburger Guide to Missoula
For about a decade whenever we took the family out to eat, the only thing my son would order was a cheeseburger. The exceptions were when we ate a Chinese or Mexican restaurant. Even though some Mexican restaurants serve cheeseburgers. He eventually broadened his culinary horizons, but to this day he still likes a good cheeseburger.
Luckily, living in Missoula allows us to have our choice of great cheeseburgers these days. Everything from classic joints that are over 100 years old, to newer places that take extra care in crafting your cheeseburger.
People are passionate about their favorite food here in Missoula. We know the places that we like to go for a good cheeseburger, but we wanted to find out where our listeners like to go, so we asked them.
There were hundreds of answers. Most of the answers may not surprise you, but there were a few answers that we weren’t expecting. Now we have a few new places we need to try out.
The Cheeseburger King: The Missoula Club
This is by no means a scientific poll, but according to our listeners, the place that got the most mentions is The Missoula Club, which is over 100 years old and is known for its “Warm Beer, Cold Burgers”. It was by no means a runaway.
Our listeners also enjoy the cheeseburgers at Double K Ranch, Wally and Buck, Gary’s Local, The Desperado, The Top Hat, and Flipper’s Tavern Grill Casino.
A Hidden Gem: Marvin’s Bar
One place that was mentioned several times is Marvin’s Bar. I haven’t had a chance to try the cheeseburger at Marvin’s yet.
We asked about the best cheeseburgers in Missoula, so we must give an honorable mention to Nap’s Grill in Hamilton, since they aren't located in Missoula.
Local establishments were mentioned by far more than chains. One chain did get some mentions, and that was Five Guys.

There were also mentions of cheeseburgers from the past. Buck's Club used to have a "a burger and a beer for a buck", and Bag O' Burgers were mentioned as favorites of years gone by.
