While growing up in Montana I heard stories of the "Flathead Monster". It is a believable story with the size of Flathead Lake and the imagination of a child. I still think the monster exists but is no longer lurking in the shadows of a Montana Lake. I haven't heard about any sightings of the monster in years. Some people say that it is because there are so many more people that live on the lake these days, and the monster just stays hidden.

The Loch Ness Monster Is The Most Famous

There are a lot of "Monsters" in lakes around the world. With the "Loch Ness Monster" being the most famous of all. Some day I will tell the story of my search for "Nessie" back in the '90's, but I will save that for another time. Recently a "Monster" was spotted in Atlantic Beach, North Carolina. The area is next to the Atlantic Ocean, so it would make sense that a monster would be seen and recorded there, but I have a different theory.

The "Monster" Just Moved Away

My theory is the "Flathead Lake Monster" has moved to North Carolina because it is just too expensive to live in Flathead Lake any longer. The "Monster" has finally had enough of the population growth, the expense and just wanted some peace and quiet, so it moved to North Carolina. This is just a theory at this point, I still have some investigating to do.

Let's Keep The Tradition Alive

In the meantime, I want to hear more stories about our fabled "Flathead Monster". I want to see the footage. With more people living here now, than when I was growing up, and with cell phone cameras everywhere, we should be able to get some footage of our local monster. That way we can get another generation to pass along the tradition and to believe.
