Western Montana, THANK YOU! The 28th Annual Guerrilla Turkey Drive has wrapped up and through the generosity of so many amazing people we were able to collect enough turkeys for our agencies that we work with to help meet their goals. With all of the stories we have heard this year, it really was a year of "unknowns" for the Turkey Drive. We never have any idea if we will be able to help out the agencies that need our help.

Amazing Sponsors

We can't do it without a lot of help, not only from individuals but from businesses as well. Missoula Electric Cooperative has been a phenomenal sponsor for a lot of what we do on our stations. Decker Truck Lines helps us out by taking a truck off of the street and making sure it has the fuel to keep all the turkeys frozen until it is time to distribute them. KPAX-TV over the last few years has helped us spread the word about the need.

Missoula Electric Cooperative Put Us Over The Top

Donations were coming in as late as Friday evening. It was amazing to be a part of this event again and it was an emotional sight on Friday as the sun was going down, Missoula Electric Cooperative pulled up with literally hundreds of turkeys to help us make sure that all of the outlying agencies had their needs met. Without their generosity, we wouldn't have been able to meet their goals. Not only did they help us unload the turkeys but they spent hours driving around town making sure they got enough turkeys for the drive. Thank you, Missoula Electric Cooperative.

Totals

We collected just under 1000 turkeys this year and over $2700 in cash and checks. Every turkey can feed a family of 4 or 5 with leftovers, so that is thousands of people that have been helped make sure they at the very least have a turkey for Thanksgiving. We helped The Darby Bread Box, Haven House in Hamilton, Pantry Partners in Stevensville, the Mineral County Food Bank, Missoula Food Bank, and the Missoula Head Start. Every one of the agencies we spoke with leading up to our Turkey Drive, they all saw the same thing: more need and an increase in prices of food to feed their clients.

Thankful

As we head into the season of giving "Thanks", I am thankful that I am a part of this amazing community.
