Montanans Are Wondering If Pearl Jam’s Missoula Gigs Are Over?
The 2024 election is over. Most of the nation closely followed this election, not just for the President, but also for other races. One race in Montana got a lot of national attention, and that was for the U.S. Senate seat between Senator Jon Tester and challenger Tim Sheehy. Tim Sheehy won the election.
Pearl Jam has made an effort to play shows in Montana around elections when Senator Tester was up for re-election. They made no secret of that at their shows. The shows at Washington-Grizzly Stadium in 2018 and this past year included voting messages. The band wore candidate clothes and spoke about the importance of voting. Senator Jon Tester and Jeff Ament grew up in Big Sandy, Montana. There has always been that connection.
Jeff Ament Will Continue With Montana Pool Service
Now that Senator Tester is no longer going to be in office, people are wondering will Missoula, or for that matter Montana, ever see a Pearl Jam show again? Ament still calls Montana home and continues to help build skateparks throughout the state with his Montana Pool Service non-profit organization.
The past two times Pearl Jam played in Missoula, on their 'Hometown' shows and more recently with their 'Dark Matter' tour, it was by far the smallest city on their tour. Being one of the biggest bands in the world they are used to selling out venues in Seattle, Chicago, New York and Boston. They didn't need to play in Missoula, they chose to. It will remain to be seen if they decide to come to Missoula again in the future.
I want to thank Mr. Tester for his service to the state of Montana over the years. If the band chooses to never play Montana again, I want to thank them for putting on some historic and epic shows in Montana over the years. See some pictures below.
