A Montanan’s Offer To President Biden For Exciting Griz Football
We got the news on Saturday that the Delaware "Fightin' Blue Hens" have moved on in the FCS playoffs. They defeated Lafayette 36 to 34. With that win, Delaware, with a regular season record of 8-3, has earned a trip to Montana to take on the Griz for round two of the playoffs. The game will be under the lights at Washington Grizzly Stadium this Saturday with a kick off time of 7pm.
A Montanan's Invitation to the President
I would like to take this opportunity to openly invite President Biden to come to Missoula to attend the game. I am even willing to buy an aftermarket ticket to make sure he gets a seat. It isn't often that Montana has a chance to host Delaware for a football playoff game of this magnitude. The last time these two teams met in a playoff game was back in 1993. Delaware beat the Griz 49-48, what a high scoring game that was. Fast forward three decades years and here we go again. It also isn't often that we have an alum of a playoff opponent in the White House.
The President is the Most Famous University of Delaware Alum
President Biden has represented Delaware as a Senator for 36 years. He also graduated from the University of Delaware. President Biden may be the most famous University of Delaware Alum there is. There are other University of Delaware Alum, like NFL player Joe Flacco, and Chris Christie the Governor of New Jersey. But I figured if we are going to invite someone, we should go for the leader of our country.
A few Delaware facts:
- Delaware area is 2,489 square miles.
- You can fit Delaware inside Montana 59 times.
- The population of Delaware is 1,018,396 million people
- The biggest city in Delaware is Wilmington with a population of 71,146.
- According to US News, Delaware ranks as the 18th best state overall.
- I have never been there.
The final FCS Coaches' poll, before the playoffs began, had Delaware ranked at number 12 and Montana ranked as number 2 in the nation. The "Fightin' Blue Hens" play in Delaware Stadium that has a capacity of 18,500. Washington Grizzly Stadium can fit 27,178 rowdy fans, as witnessed by the record attendance at the 2023 "Brawl of the Wild". Let's make sure we give the "Fightin' Blue Hens" a real Montana welcome.
The President Can Sleep on My Pullout Couch
The weather forecast for the playoff game looks to be cloudy skies and highs in the lower 30's. If the President ever reads this I want him to know that I am willing to offer up our pullout couch in our basement and I am willing to grill up some great food at a tailgate party. If he was to make the trip, I am sure that he would enjoy Montana very much, but I doubt he will enjoy the game. Because as we all know, the Griz are going to be sending the "Fightin' Blue Hens" home as losers. Go Griz!
