
Colder, Wetter Winter Ahead for Montana, Says NWS Forecast
In Montana, it’s always a good idea to keep an eye on the weather forecasts. After all, the weather can change dramatically in a short time. Even though fall has just begun, Montana has already seen snow falling in locations across the state. It looks like this winter we may have more of that heading our way.

If you are a skier or snowboarder, this season may be an epic one for hitting the slopes. We’ve already had some forecast models predicting more precipitation this coming winter. It’ll be interesting to see whether that comes as rain or snow.

The National Weather Service has updated its forecast for February, March, and April, and it looks like most of Montana is going to be seeing some colder-than-normal temperatures and some above-normal precipitation.

If the forecast holds up, that’s good news for skiers and snowboarders, as there’s a chance the ski season may be extended next year. Not just that, but it can be good news for the inevitable Montana fire season in 2026.
