Sleep is an important part of a person's life. If you don't get enough sleep you can be cranky, irritable, and have a difficult time doing your job. I know this, because it happens to me. Over the years I have worked every shift there is at a radio station from overnights, 9pm-6am to mornings from 6am-2pm. From the first day I got into radio, I haven't had a regular sleep schedule.

Montanans Get the Most Sleep According to Report

It's a good thing that I live in Montana. According to a report published by the Daily Mail in the UK, put together by Amerisleep, Montana is the least sleep deprived state in the country. They took Google searches regarding sleep and determined that Montana has the least sleep issues out of any state. Our neighbors all rank high as well. Coming in behind Montana, is South Dakota, Idaho and Wyoming. The worst states for getting sleep is California, followed by Maryland, New York, Massachusetts, and Nevada.

Light Sleepers Can Sleep Better in Montana

Being a light sleeper can be a big issue, when any sound can disrupt a good night's sleep. I am a very light sleeper and have had sleep issues for decades. I have found that a sound machine, for me, can help drown out a lot of background noise that can interrupt my sleep. Caffeine can also be a factor in not being able to get a good nights sleep. With the sleep issues I have had through my adult life, I couldn't imagine living in a big city. This is just one more reason for me to appreciate calling Montana my home.
