Montana is known for many things. Our amazing outdoors is one of them. The plains, mountains, woods, rivers all around us. This is a great place to live if you like to hunt, fish, bike, ski, paddle, hike or more. We like the outdoors and we appreciate what Montana has to offer. With our four distinct seasons, and with our varying landscape there is something for everyone to enjoy outdoors. It would only make sense that we would have a school in Montana make a list of one of the best schools for outdoor adventurers.

Outbound.com's List Includes this Montana School

According to The Outbound.com, Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana made their list of Top 20 U.S. schools for Outdoor Adventurers.  One of our neighboring states has a school listed as well. Boise State University, in Boise, Idaho has also made the list coming in at number 3.

Some Schools on the List May Be Surprising

According to the list Appalachian State in Boone, North Carolina is the number one school for outdoor adventurers. There are some other schools on the list that were surprising to me, when I think of "outdoor adventures" I normally don't think of San Diego, or Berkley, California. They both offer more outdoor activities and have much more space for activities on their campuses than I thought was possible.

MSU Comes in At Number 8

Montana State University made the list coming in at number 8 on the list. Here is how they partially describe the area:

Surrounded by five mountain ranges, forests, and wilderness lays Montana State University (MSU), home to 15,700 students and over 225 academic programs. Bridger, Tobacco Root, Big Belt, Gallatin and Madison Mountain Ranges surround Bozeman, and the Gallatin, Madison and Yellowstone Rivers are all within a half hour drive of campus.

In the summer you can hike, bike, paddle the rivers. In the winter you can ski or snowboard. There are outdoor activities all year round.

Maybe It's A Good Thing only One Montana School Made the List

The University of Montana in Missoula, offers many of the same types of things, but didn't make the list. Maybe that is a good thing, we can just keep that our little secret.
