There are jobs available in Montana where a person can make a pretty good living. The medical field is one area where Montana ranks very high in both salary and quality of life. Of course, not all of us can be doctors.

When it comes to Montana's average hourly salary, we aren't at the top of the list and we aren't at the bottom either. Visual Capitalist has mapped out the average salary of the entire U.S., according to Bureau of Labor Statistics. Montana fares better than some of our neighbors, but not all of them.

Montana's average hourly salary is $32.73, more than both South Dakota ($31.16) and Wyoming ($31.59). We make less on average than Idaho ($34.03) and North Dakota ($34.18).

If you want to make the most money in the country it may not be a surprise that the highest paid workers are located in Washington D.C. ($52.89). Mississippi ($28.25) has the lowest average hourly salary in the country.
It would be nice to make over $50 an hour, like some people in Washington D.C. That said you would then have to live in D.C. I don't know too many people who are willing to do that these days.
