Montana Just Landed on a Very Strange Top 10 List
Montana ends up on a lot of lists—and honestly, some are more fun than others.
Sure, we’re used to seeing the usual: best places to vacation, best scenic drives, best spots to catch a sunrise or sunset. No argument there. But every once in a while, a list pops up that makes you do a double-take.
Like the time Montana ranked as one of the best places to survive a zombie apocalypse. Wide open spaces, low population density… it kind of checks out, right?
Well, here’s another one to add to the “only in Montana” category.
Montana Has a History of Unusual Rankings
According to a recent list highlighted by the New York Post—which pulled data tied to the gambling website Casino.ca—Montana ranks among the top 10 states where you’re most likely to be abducted by aliens.
Yes, abducted by aliens.
Before you start building a bunker or scanning the skies, Montana didn’t take the top spot. That honor goes to Delaware, followed by Washington, New York, and Oregon. But still… making the top 10? That feels very on-brand for Big Sky Country. Montana ranks 7th on the list of states with the most sightings per person, which gives us a better chance of being abducted.

When you think about it, maybe it’s not that surprising. Montana has massive stretches of dark, open sky, minimal light pollution, and a long history of UFO sightings. If aliens are cruising around looking for a place to check out, this probably looks like a pretty inviting landing zone.
Why Montana Made the Alien Abduction List
These are the kinds of lists that are just plain fun—the ones that don’t take themselves too seriously but still make you look at Montana a little differently.

You know… just in case.
