The first time somebody told me they went hiking in Chacos I thought it was wild. How could anyone hike in sandals?

I was in high school in Missoula at the time but hadn't tapped into my "inner Missoulian" yet, i.e., I wasn't outdoorsy. Years later, I bought my first pair (in Billings of all places) and haven't had to buy another because they are that cool/functional.

It's not the official shoe of Missoula (though, maybe it could be). There are definitely other shoes that people wear in Missoula.

It's been said that, "The Belt has to match the Shoes." So we want to know, do the shoes have to match the Town?

Seeing Chacos Everywhere in Missoula?

However, a Montana influencer pointed out that there are an excessive number of people who wear Chacos in Missoula (this writer included).

Wade Holland, known as the "Stoke King," has been a competitive skier, reality show winner, and Emmy-nominated creator. A lot of his videos celebrate the outdoors, specifically, Montana.

You've maybe seen it before, it has over 1M views, but he posted a video about seeing Chacos in Missoula. "You know you're in Missoula when..."

Using "O Fortuna" from Carmina Burana is the perfect soundtrack for this content. So many Chacos! He sports his own Chacos at the end of the video and in a video he posts shortly after this one, he admits that he's wearing Chacos to enjoy Missoula's rivers.

The comments are hilarious too.

  • "Well of course you're at Caras Park that's their meeting ground" - @skirishmoon
  • "Facts"- @butler_creek_development
  • "I mean...they're pretty damn comfortable" - @directorhidef
  • "Or anywhere in Colorado" - @radogirl11
  • "*every sing mtn town ever** - @mishyy_mish

Missoula, I'm curious if there are as many Chaco-wearers as this video suggests. Do you wear or own Chacos?
