The announcement that the Southgate Mall was not going to have a city-wide fireworks display in Missoula this year didn't come as a surprise. It has been a few years since we have had a city-wide fireworks display in Missoula. There will be fireworks displays a few days before the 4th of July with the Missoula Paddleheads baseball team. They are going to have fireworks shows on Friday June 28th and Saturday June 29th after the conclusion of the baseball games.

There are other fireworks shows planned in Western Montana for those that are looking for some of the big boom. This is also a good time to remember your pets when it comes to fireworks.

Florence- The Florence fireworks will take place at Heritage Park on the 4th of July. There are a lot of events scheduled that day. There will be live music and games like cornhole.

Stevensville- Stevensville will be having a fireworks display on the 4th of July at Lewis an Clark Park at 9:45pm.

Hamilton- The city of Hamilton will be having a city-wide fireworks display on the 4th of July at the Ravalli County Fairgrounds starting at 8:30pm.

Polson- Polson's fireworks are scheduled for July 3rd and they are fundraising to help with the cost of the event. They will be holding a parade on the 4th of July at noon on Main Street.

Lakeside- Lakeside's fireworks are planned for 4th of July at 11pm. They are currently raising money to offset the cost of the event.

Lolo- Lolo Hot Springs has a fireworks show planned for 4th of July at 9pm.

Whitefish- Whitefish fireworks display will be held over Whitefish Lake on the 4th of July at 10:30pm. According to the Whitefish Chamber of Commerce this fireworks display has been recognized by the New York Times as one of "America's Top-10 Fireworks Displays".

There are plenty of places in Montana where we can celebrate our patriotism and independence this 4th of July. Montana is one of the most patriotic of our states.

Without a city-wide fireworks display in Missoula, it seems like there are more people who are setting off their own fireworks. Here is a reminder that it is illegal to light off fireworks in Missoula city limits. Enjoy your 4th of July and be safe this holiday season.
