When it comes to food everyone has their favorites in Montana. It can be a type of food, a supermarket, or a restaurant that can make a favorite. It can be your favorite game meat, your favorite fish or just a favorite recipe. It's a matter of taste and opinion on what is better and it really depends on the person.

Two Montana Cities Make The Best "Foodie" Cities List

There is a recent study out from WalletHub on what they consider to be the "Best Foodie Cities in America", two Montana cities made the list. A "foodie" is a person with a particular interest in food. It doesn't necessarily have to be restaurants, it can also be an interest in cooking food.

Orlando, Florida is Ranked Number 1

According to the report the number one city for foodies in the nation is Orlando, Florida. Fun fact: Orlando is the home of the headquarters for Red Lobster franchises. They have seven of them in Orlando. Following Orlando the top five are Portland, Oregon, Sacramento, California, Miami, Florida, and San Francisco, California.

According to the Report Billings is Better For "Foodies" than Missoula

The report ranks Billings as a better city for foodies than Missoula. On a list of 182 different cities, Billings, Montana ranks overall at number 62, just above Dallas, Texas. Missoula is ranked at 106 just above Tacoma, Washington. According to the report the rankings were based on two major categories, "affordability", and "diversity, accessibility, and quality". Billings beat Missoula in both of those major categories.

Affordability Is Ranks High in Montana

The two Montana cities ranked highest when it comes "affordability", with Billings ranking in the top twenty cities, coming in at number 17. Missoula ranks at number 23. I have eaten in the 4 of the top 5 cities on this list and they are all very expensive compared to eating anywhere in Montana.

Let's Give Some Credit To Some Other Montana Cities

The other main category is where our cities fall short, "diversity, accessibility, and quality".  Billings ranks at number 90 and Missoula ranks at 128. Most of  the rankings like these lately seem to rank both Missoula and Billings over most of the other cities in Montana. There are a lot of great eateries for foodies in Montana, like in Bozeman, Kalispell, Butte, Great Falls and more. A lot of them don't get the credit they deserve.
