If Montana had a state food, after huckleberries and maybe bison, it would have to be steak. One of the foods I rarely order when I'm eating at restaurants out of state is a steak because they never seem to be as good as the ones I can get at home.

Thanks to Montana's agriculture and an appreciation for local ingredients, Montana has quite a few exceptional steakhouses spread out all across the state. But one steakhouse wasn't on my radar and it popped up on a national list of the best steakhouses. Business Insider shared the top steakhouses in every state according to Yelp and the steakhouse they picked for Montana may surprise you. It surprised me. But it shouldn't have because it looks like this steakhouse is pretty popular.

Before we get to the steakhouse that Business Insider and Yelp named the best in the state, here's a look at some of the best steakhouses in Montana according to a Montanan.

The Best Steakhouse in Montana

The steakhouse named the best in Montana according to Business Insider and Yelp didn't make the list above, yet people are raving about it. Have you ever been to The Continental Divide in Ennis, Montana?

Located south of Three Forks, The Continental Divide uses locally sourced ingredients and was acknowledged for its Wagyu bavette and the Scallops, which are "cumin scented." But they also serve elk loin chops, salmon, and duck, among other entrees. One review on the steakhouse's website says "...it was as good as we would expect in a large city," and another raves, "I don't know how to simply say enough about this restaurant." Overall, the restaurant has a 4.7-star rating on Yelp.

There's an RV park nearby the restaurant. This could make for a nice, short road trip if you've never eaten at The Continental Divide.
