Since 1962, nestled just off Interstate 90, about 70 miles outside of Missoula, the scenic St. Regis Travel Center has stood as a welcoming oasis. Travelers come from all around the nation to stop and take a break and get a nationally recognized milkshake.

A Montana Landmark Since 1962

On August 15, 2025, that family legacy evolved. The Carson family of businesses, based in Portland, Oregon, became the new steward of this beloved stop, promising continuity and care for its unique charm. Muffy and Gary Bullock, the late owner’s daughter and son-in-law, remain engaged in the plaza’s operation, easing the transition and sharing their hospitality wisdom with the newcomers.

What began as a modest gift shop founded by Jack Lincoln grew across generations into a vibrant crossroads. The longstanding Huck’s Grill slings burgers and serves the famous huckleberry shake. Dolly V’s serves creamy ice cream and rich fudge. The convenience store fuels both cars and travelers searching for that perfect Montana themed gift. Cutthroat Henry’s Casino hums quietly in the background, all anchored by modern restrooms, fuel pumps, and serves as a conduit to Glacier National Park.

Why St. Regis Remains a Must-Stop in Montana

The St. Regis Travel Center stands poised for a fresh era, rooted in family history, yet ready to grow with renewed vigor. Travelers can still wander past that iconic trout tank, sip a legendary huckleberry shake, or browse locally inspired gifts. They even have a dog park across the street for pets to take a break and socialize. Carson says it will maintain the travel center’s long-standing traditions and keep current staff employed, while overseeing future operations and growth.
