Did Shaboozey Just Crown Montana the Coolest State in America?
Montana has not only become a playground for some of the rich and famous, but there seems to be a revival among musicians rediscovering Montana.
Some of this may be due to some pretty amazing concerts we have witnessed over the past few years.
When Pearl Jam played Washington Grizzly Stadium in August of 2024, they brought Lukas Nelson, the son of Willie Nelson, on stage to perform their hit “Just Breathe”. After that Nelson announced his new album called “American Romance” that includes a song titled “Montana”.
Pearl Jam’s Epic Montana Moment
More recently Mumford & Sons were one of the headliners for the Under the Big Sky festival in Whitefish. This isn’t the first time they have played Montana. They played Ogren Park in Missoula back in 2019. Marcus Mumford had been to Montana before playing the Missoula gig, I was on an airplane with him flying into Missoula as he and his wife Carey Mulligan came to Montana for a vacation.
Famous Songs That Name-Drop Montana
Montana will always be a special place for musicians and there have been many songs referencing our state and towns. Check out:
Jimmy Buffett – Livingston Saturday Night, or Come Monday
Marie Osmond & Dan Seals – Meet me in Montana
Jewel – The Missoula Song
Hank Williams Jr. - Montana Song
Frank Zappa – Montana
More recently Shaboozey has spent some time in Montana. He filmed his video for the song “Highway” in parts of Montana in 2024. He must have liked spending time here, because he recently posted to his Facebook page some pictures of him in Montana with the quote “Heaven is in Montana”.
