7 Montanans Who Could Be the Next James Bond
If you're a fan of the James Bond movies or books, then you're keenly aware that producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are currently looking for the next actor to play the iconic character, and the actor would need to commit to the franchise for a long time. Names that have been thrown around include:
- Idris Elba
- Tom Hardy
- Aaron-Taylor Johnson
- Regé-Jean Page
But the search continues which means the rest of us can have a little fun.
Why a Montanan Could be the Next Bond
Montanans are known for their independent, "don't tell me what to do" attitude that is reminiscent of the martini-drinking spy. While a Montanan might prefer a microbrew, or even whiskey over a martini, the physical, mental, and emotional demands of being James Bond are right in line with the characteristics of many Montanans.
Here are a few Montana candidates, past and present, who would be worthy of the 007 designation.
University of Montana President, Seth Bodnar
Mr. Bodnar would make a good Bond not only because of his experience as a Green Beret with the US Army but SPOILER ALERT he says on his Twitter profile that he’s a “proud father” and we know from “Time to Die” that Bond became a father and he would certainly have been a proud one.
Montana Congressman Ryan Zinke
With his experience as a Navy SEAL, he could certainly handle the physical demands of the job, and you could argue that, like Bond, he might let bureaucracy take a back seat.
Congresswoman Jeannette Rankin
As the first female to serve in the House of Representatives, Jeannette Rankin would naturally have been a perfect candidate for the first female James Bond, a direction that has been rumored for the film franchise as well.

Krystal Nielson, star on 'The Bachelor'
The contestant from Missoula did relatively well during her season, so we'd like to nominate her for her Bond-like charm.
Evel Knievel
No one could handle Bond's radical stunts the way Evel Knievel could have.
Rob O'Neill
Also a US Navy SEAL, O'Neill is maybe the most spy-like on the list of contenders for his service on SEAL Team six and, as he says on his website, his role as "Team Leader for Operation Neptune's Spear, the mission to kill Osama bin Laden."
Dana Carvey
If we're talking about spies, we can't forget Dana Carvey. Clearly, his performance in "Master of Disguise" is consummate proof that he would be worthy of the 007 credentials.
