Montanans are known for not really noticing or bothering celebrities. Growing up, I went to the same church as Andie Macdowell and her family, and remember being in Sunday school classes with her kids, but it didn't feel like they were celebrities. They were just another family that went to my church.

There was another time that I saw Lindsay Wagner on a staircase in Missoula, but I think my mom was more starstruck than I was.

But then when I was in high school I was eating at The Bridge (remember that place?) and I remember the waiter apologizing for the wait, they had a big party downstairs. Turns out the big party was Dana Carvey and some of his friends. That's when I got starstruck. I wanted to see him, but he was definitely in a private dining room somewhere away from gawkers like me.

Dana Carvey may have been born in Missoula and only lived in Montana until he was three years old, but rumor has it that Dana Carvey still visits Missoula occasionally. I think most Missoulians would be fine with calling him a Montanan. After all, Missoula is known for producing talented people, and Carvey is no exception.
