I Found a Spot in Montana That Looks Like the Witches Road from ‘Agatha All Along’
Spooky season may be over but the buzz around Marvel's show 'Agatha All Along' is continuing.
Variety reports that Disney+ has submitted the series as a comedy for major awards like, "the Golden Globes, SAG Awards, and next year's Emmy race...". There are rumors of spinoffs and reports that the show is doing well. If that wasn't enough of an indicator, then all the TikToks and Reels about the song "The Ballad of the Witches Road" might have tipped you off that this show is trending.
I'm a fan of the show and have seen the whole first season, so I'll try not to spoil anything significant. As the song suggests, a major feature of 'Agatha All Along' is the Witches Road that the characters travel down.
It's a fascinating road in a forest with neon leaves and troubles that will befall you if you stray from the path. I couldn't help but think as I was watching the show, "That Witches Road looks like places I've seen in Montana."
A Witches Road, in Montana?
There are probably a dozen places in Montana that could look like the Witches Road but I'm thinking of one trail that I love to hike near Missoula Montana. I admit, depending on where you are on the trail it's not as dark or tree-covered as the Witches Road, but there's a resemblance or a "vibe." Take a look at these images.
Here's a glimpse of the Witches Road from the show's trailer:
A winding path surrounded by trees and covered in leaves. Now, here's a snapshot of the Sam Braxton area of Pattee Canyon near Missoula.
Not seeing it yet? Let's add a little movie magic.
(Yes, we added sparkles). Now, look at the 'roads' side by side.
While this might not be the perfect shot of that trail in Missoula, the next time you're on the trail and you find yourself dwarfed by the trees and surrounded by understory, ask yourself, does it feel a little "witchy"?
You can see more glimpses of the Witches Road in the trailer for 'Agatha All Along' below if you haven't seen the show yet.
SPOILER: If you don't want ANY spoilers about the show, don't read this next part.
At the beginning of the road, the characters in the show have to take off their shoes and leave them behind. That's another detail that reminds me of trailheads in Montana like the Sam Braxton area of Pattee Canyon in Missoula. The beginning of the trailhead often becomes a makeshift lost and found. Sometimes you'll even find shoes at the beginning of the trail, just like the Witches Road.
"Follow me, my friend/To glory at the end."
