Out of all of Montana’s industries, the biggest, by far, is agriculture. We grow a lot in Montana.
According to World Atlas, there are about 28,000 farms in Montana that cover almost 60 million acres.
Growing up in Montana, I was always aware that there were a lot of farms and ranches around the state. What I didn't know was the extent to which they contributed to Montana's economy and the food supply around the country.
Meeting farmers and ranchers over the years opened my eyes to how hard they work and how much it is a way of life for so many.

Montana supplies important ingredients for beers enjoyed nationwide. So much so that we have a place dubbed the “Malted Barley Capital of the World.”

The MAGIE Show: Where Farmers Gather
Great Falls hosts one of the biggest agricultural events in the state every January with the Montana Agricultural and Industrial Exhibit (MAGIE) Show. Farmers and ranchers have a chance to see some of the latest technology in the farming world.

I have nothing but respect and admiration for Montana’s farmers and ranchers. It’s never been an easy way of life. I don’t think I could do it.

So thank you for doing what you do. I don’t know if it gets said enough. All of Montana should be proud of what you do.
