Exciting Montana Owned Yacht That Was In 2 Movies

The connection between Montana and Hollywood goes back a long time. The classic actor and Academy Award winner Gary Cooper was born in Helena, Montana in 1901. The reason I know this, is because I have all of the information of the world at the tips of my fingers. For those that are a bit younger, there was a time not so long ago, that you couldn't look up every little tidbit of information that you heard.

Another Famous Montana Connection

Growing up in Montana you tended to hear stories that were hard to believe. For example, I was told in middle school that a kid at a different middle school had a dad who was the manager of the band REO Speedwagon. At the time, a person couldn't just look it up. A lot of us doubted that information. REO Speedwagon was one of the biggest bands in the world. How could it be true? It wasn't until years later that I got confirmation from Kevin Cronen, the lead singer of the band, that the information was in fact true.

Montana Yacht Owner's Hollywood Connection

The other night on Celebrity Jeopardy, the category of Kurt Russell movies came up. One of the answers was his 1987 movie with Goldie Hawn called "Overboard". That reminded me of what I was told about the movie at the time with a Montana connection. The story was the yacht was owned by Montana's own Dennis Washington, the richest man in Montana. For those that don't know, the story is true. According to Superyachtfan.com, not only was his yacht featured in that film, it was also in the Demi Moore, Woody Harrelson film "Indecent Proposal". Acocrding to them he also owns four "superyachts".

According to Forbes magazine, Dennis' Washington's net worth is $7 billion. He is ranked #145 on the Forbes list of richest people in the world. The yacht used in "Overboard", almost 40 years ago, is a much different yacht than his "Attessa IV" yacht that is featured in Superyacht Time, and is valued at over $162,000,000. See below.

Sometimes I miss the old days of stories being told from person to person. Then again, I never would have been able to fathom the impressiveness of the "superyacht" if I wasn't able to see the pictures for myself.
