Driving around Missoula and seeing all the changes that are taking place is a reminder that our city is constantly evolving.

Of course, not all changes are bad; there are some good changes that are coming our way. For example: M-80 Chicken is going to be moving into an iconic Missoula location and is planning on being open by the beginning of this summer.

There are also changes coming to some of our streets. A busy Missoula intersection is going to be getting a new traffic signal, with construction starting soon.

With the good, there comes the bummer news. We recently found out about a long-time Missoula business that quietly closed its doors.

We also got word a while ago that all of the Joann fabric stores across Montana would be closing their doors.

The other day I was driving by the Joann location and I noticed another business that has closed it's doors. The Universal Athletic store, located in the Holiday Village, appears to have closed that location. There was no merchandise left in the store and there was no sign on the doors giving any information about moving locations.

I reached out to Universal Athletic by phone to find out if the closure is permanent or if the store is changing locations, or for a remodel. I didn't get a return call, there is no word of the closure on their website or Facebook accounts at this time.

I remember shopping at Universal Athletic when it was located in the Southgate Mall, and when they moved to the Holiday Village location back in 2015. When my kids were in high school, that was one of the places we would shop to get school gear.

Universal Athletic has other Montana locations in Great Falls, Billings, Bozeman, Butte, Helena, and Kalispell.
