UPDATE: Joann To Close All Stores In Montana and Across the U.S.
UPDATE 2/24/24: According to MSN.com Joann, the fabric and craft chain has announced they are moving to close all their stores across the U.S. The company has declared Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in January, for the second time in a year.
Some businesses that announced bankruptcy in 2024, according to CNN, are Big Lots, Red Lobster, Party City, and Tupperware. Another chain that announced bankruptcy and has recently announced store closings is Joann, the fabric and craft chain with locations in Montana. Originally they announced that there would only be two store closures in Montana, but now that seems to not be the case. They will be closing all locations in Montana.
There are other chain locations that have announced store closures in 2024 that have locations in Montana. Wendy's announced they were closing 140 locations in 2024. But no specific closures in Montana have been announced.

According to The Hill, Walgreens is planning on closing about 1,200 locations over the next three years, and Party City has already closed stores and had "going out of business sales" in locations.
Over the next few years we may see more retail chains close their doors across the country and in Montana.
It's not all bad news on the chain front. There are other chains that are looking at expanding into Montana, with hopefully more coming soon. We do know that Jack In the Box, Del Taco, and Twin Peaks have announced they are working towards opening locations in Montana in the future.
