What To Expect At The 2025 Corgi Derby In Missoula
One of the biggest races of the year is coming up soon. No, we aren't talking about the Kentucky Derby; we are talking about the Corgi races.
Yes, those cute little dogs that were popular with Queen Elizabeth II. She had owned more than 30 different Corgis during her reign.
2025 Western Montana Corgi Derby
The 2025 Western Montana Corgi Derby is coming up on Saturday, May 3, at the Missoula Dornblaser Track, put on by the Missoula Valley Corgis organization.
There is a $10 registration fee per family for dogs that are going to race. If you have more than one Corgi racing it is still just $10, but they ask you to fill out a separate form for each racer.
Admission is $5 for individuals, $10 for a family or a group of friends.

The Missoula Valley Corgis association is asking people to refrain from bringing dogs that aren't competing in the races. They are reminding owners that these are structured races and having other pets around can cause issues.

Costumes for the event are encouraged, and there will be a costume parade to kick off the event. There will also be raffles as part of the event. If you want to enter your Corgi in the race you can sign up here.
The sooner people register the better so the organizers have an idea of how many racers will be participating in the event.
Start training your Corgis, get out the costumes for the pups, and get out your big hats for the event. Who knows, maybe this will be bigger than the Kentucky Derby someday.
