I've been waiting for an opportunity to visit the Missoula Butterfly House and Insectarium. As luck would have it, I planned on visiting this weekend because I have family coming to town and I thought this might be a great activity for all of us. But it turns out this might not be the best weekend for a visit.

And depending on how warm it gets in the next few weeks, it still might not work out.

Missoula's Weather Forecast for This Weekend and This Summer

Forecasts earlier this week showed that we may reach temperatures in the 90s this weekend, with a possibility to break a record. Though, it's expected that temperatures in Western Montana won't be as warm as they could be further west, in Oregon and Idaho.

Still, if you trust predictions from the Old Farmer's Almanac or Farmer's Almanac it's expected that we'll have warmer-than-normal temperatures this summer.

How the Weather Affects the Missoula Butterly House and Insectarium

The heat, unfortunately, is an issue for the Missoula Butterfly House. As they say in a video posted this week to their Instagram page, when temperatures are warm outside, they're even hotter inside the Butterfly House.

They say that temperatures can reach almost 100 degrees inside, and because of that they may need to close temporarily.

"We are already in the process of installing a cooling system," they say, which is why this is only a temporary situation. They are trying to be as accommodating as possible, with refunds and discounts for guests.

You can read the full explanation of the heat advisory for the Butterfly House but keep in mind that the Insectarium will still be open, so there are still opportunities to enjoy your favorite creatures.
