Missoula Butterfly House and Insectarium Got an Important Update
Have you visited the new home of the Missoula Butterfly House and Insectarium? Visitors from all over have been enjoying the first year in the new location on South Ave. Programs like Bugs and Brews regularly sell out and they're coming up with new events and offerings all the time.
I feel a little bit like I'm one of the last people in Missoula who hasn't visited though. I had planned to visit the Butterfly House this summer when I had some family in town, but the weekend I had planned to attend, the Butterfly House posted a heat advisory. The area where the butterflies were could reach up to 100 degrees they had said in the advisory, and that could lead to temporary closures. We ended up planning an alternative activity and somehow I never made it back. Every time I drive by I think, "When am I going to visit the Butterfly House?!"
On social media recently, the Missoula Butterfly House and Insectarium posted a very exciting update. You'll see in the picture below that a crane is lowering an AC unit into the building.
That means future visitors can visit the Butterfly House in a more temperature-controlled environment. Congratulations to the Missoula Butterfly House and Insectarium, this is an exciting development and I'm sure it will lead to even more people visiting (including me).
Just behind the Butterfly House and Insectarium, the Rocky Mountain Gardens have opened and the public can now explore the gardens. If you did visit the Butterfly House but the gardens weren't open yet, take a look below at photos from the grand opening.
