Summer will soon be here and that means that folks will be traveling all across Montana.

One of my favorite spots to visit is also extremely popular with locals and tourists alike. Not only is there something for everyone, but it gives people a chance to dive into the history of this great state and possibly learn a few things while having a great time.

Whether you're looking for a getaway for a day, or are in the mood for live theatre, improv, great food, or a trip down memory lane, this little Montana town has it all.

The family-friendly event is well attended, including the parade, horseback poker ride, and duck races. Plus, the money from the duck races will go to help fund scholarships for Madison County seniors.

If you've never been to Virginia City, you'll want to plan at least a day to check everything out. Virginia City is one of Montana's best places to enjoy what The Treasure State offers, from the candy and ice cream shops to the old-time photos and different entertainment venues.

Folks love the Virginia City Players and for those who enjoy a little more adult humor, the Brewery Follies is always a good time. Plus, the town is home to the oldest saloon in the state.

Not to mention, that just a couple miles up the road is Nevada City which is a wonderful example of an old Montana gold mining town and is certainly worth checking out while you're in the area.

This Family Friendly "Montana Town" Is Frozen In Time

One of the coolest places to check out in Montana is the "Old Montana" town of Nevada City. Located just on the other side of Virginia City, Nevada City is the perfect example of what life was like back during the gold rush in the 1800s.

With several different buildings to tour and friendly folks to guide you through your visit, as well as tell you the stories of the times, Nevada City is not only educational but fun for the whole family.
