If you’ve driven through Missoula in the last couple of weeks, pulled into Muralt's Travel Plaza and opened the front doors, your eyes might’ve played a trick on you.

The Transformer staring back at you is a full-blown one.

Not a poster. Not a toy. An actual, full-sized Bumblebee "ROBOT IN DISGUISE" standing right at the entrance.

Yep, and yes… it is as ridiculous as it sounds.

Not Your Average Truck Stop Anymore

Walt Muralt didn't just throw in a different snack rack or fix the coffee machine. He went out and found an 8-foot, 1,200-pound sculpture made entirely from recycled auto parts.

An Instagram video from Muralts shows this wasn’t just decoration. He wanted something that would “brighten your day and make you think.”

Mission accomplished. Because there’s something about grabbing a breakfast burrito while a giant robot made of car parts stretches over you that just hits different.

Built From Scrap, Looks Like Hollywood

Not some plastic display shipped in from a warehouse. That alone adds to the absurdity of the whole thing. It’s pieced together from actual automotive parts and somehow feels right at home inside a travel plaza. It’s like if your old pickup got a second chance at life… and came back as a superhero. Truck stops these days are more than just fuel and a bathroom break. They feel more like mini malls, and Muralt's has clearly leaned into that idea.

You Kinda Have To See It Yourself

You can talk about it all day, but it doesn’t really land until you walk in and see this thing standing there like an aggressive sentry by the coffee station. It’s weird. It’s cool. It’s very Montana in a “of course, why not?” kind of way.

@bamalama_dingdong Im at the Travel Plaza in Missoula Montana and they have a big transformer made by artists in Bali Indonesia. How cool is this!!! #fyp #Missoula #Montana #gasstation #transformers ♬ son original - GrynleX ツ🎶

And hats off to Walt. A lot of places play it safe. This isn’t that.

Just a massive scrap metal Transformer at the front door, casually greeting you.

Hard to beat that.
