Montana’s Peaceful Garden of One Thousand Buddhas Awaits
Like a lot of people, we had visitors this summer. A few of them had never been to Montana or Missoula before. When that happens, the pressure is on to show them around. Give them a taste of Montana, if you will.
One of the great things about being on the radio is asking our listeners questions and having them give feedback. Before our visitors came to town, we asked our listeners where we should take our guests. There were a lot of great answers, and we even went to a lot of the suggested places.

There is one place that was suggested that we didn’t make it to, and we were disappointed by that, since it is such a special place. There just wasn’t enough time. It’s The Garden of One Thousand Buddhas.
Where Is the Garden of One Thousand Buddhas?
The garden is located off of White Coyote Road, just north of Arlee, in the land of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes of the Flathead Reservation.
There is a lot about the garden that is special. You can have guided tours of the garden if you like, or you can wander and experience it for yourself in your own way.
Why the Garden Is a Sacred Place
It is a sacred garden whose purpose is to:
Bring about positive transformation within those who visit, in response to the negativity that abounds in the world today. - Garden of One Thousand Buddhas
It’s home to the Ewam Buddhist Institute, which started in July of 2016. They have a gift shop, paid internships, and annual events.

You don’t have to study Buddhism or be religious to visit the garden. The garden is for everyone. They do ask that you please don’t bring your pets, since it is a sacred place.
