Unfortunately, summer sunsets aren't something I get to enjoy very often. Working a morning radio show means I'm usually headed to bed long before the sky puts on its nightly show. The tradeoff? I get to see just about every Montana sunrise.��

Still, if you're looking for the best urban sunset in the Treasure State, one national ranking has picked a clear winner.
AMFM Healthcare (Mission for Michael) recently published a ranking of the best urban sunset locations across America.
It probably won't surprise anyone that Honolulu, Hawaii, claimed the top spot overall. I've been lucky enough to catch one Hawaiian sunset, and it looked exactly like the postcards.
When it comes to Montana, however, Bozeman earned the state's highest ranking.
Peets Hill/Burke Park: The Best View
According to the report, the best place to watch an urban sunset is Peets Hill/Burke Park.

The site says the location offers:
"A gentle elevated view across Bozeman with rooftops, streets, mature trees, and the surrounding edge of mountains visible below. As the evening light begins to change, the city and nearby landscape take on warmer tones."
The open trails and hillside setting also make it an ideal place for an evening walk while watching the sun disappear behind the mountains.

There are incredible viewpoints all across the state, from Missoula and Kalispell to Helena and Billings. Nearly every Montana community has a favorite hilltop, overlook, or lakeshore where locals gather to watch the sky light up.
