My love of radio began as a kid listening, with my older brother, late at night to the rock station in my hometown of Columbus Ohio, QFM96. That radio station and my older brother, who played bass in a little neighborhood band, turned me on to the classic rock greats. Beatles, Stones, AC/DC, Hendrix, Van Halen, Tom Petty, The Who, Pink Floyd and Mc5. I lied to get my first radio job. I told the boss I'd worked in radio at a college station in Ohio. This lie caught up to me the first time I got on the air and heard my voice in the headphones. I froze completely and there was nothing but dead air, for what seemed like an eternity, until the boss burst into the studio flicked a switch to start the music and looked at me and yelled "what the hell just happened?" At that point I burst into tears and confessed I'd lied about ever having worked in radio in any capacity but that I loved radio, I would work really hard and take any and all shifts and wanted to be part of the station. The boss took pity on me and I began working overnights and weekends at that small AM station until I came to work fro Z100 in 1988. I graduated from the U in 1990 and studied and live in China before returning to Missoula in 1997. I feel like I've grown up with Z100 and the listeners. Our town has grown and many changes have taken place but Z100 remains a constant. It's not uncommon for people to come up to me and say I used to listen to you with my Mom and Dad in the car when I was a kid. That's something I'm proud of. I'm always grateful for being able to live here in Western Montana and to be a part of a radio station that has been a part of the community for so long.
