The running theme for at least one TV show was a “Bar Where Everyone Knows Your Name”, and in a state like Montana that could pay off. Ever wanted to own one of your own? Maybe you can. If you place the right bid.

The Montana Department of Revenue, Alcohol Beverage Control Division has bidding open now on several available licenses around Montana. The Alcoholic Beverage Retail Competitive Bidding Process lets people and businesses bid on the opportunity to apply for an available license. The highest bidder meeting all requirements are allowed to apply for the license. Before you get too excited, there are rules, and it can be a bit pricey. Isn’t everything though?

 So many choices Norm

Looking over the lists I see a Restaurant and Beer Licence in Billings, one is on this list at $30,000. Maybe an all-All-Beverage License in Bozeman is more your style with an opening bid of $703,275. Seems like Saco, Montana in the heart of the Milk River Valley, with a population of 279 at last count has an All-Beverage (New) License posted at $18,750. Also, I should note that the window for these particular gems are available through 11:59 p.m on October 13, 2022, when the bidding closes.

Of course, when you are ready to open up that establishment you'll need to be sure that your friendly staff is up to speed. Montana's Alcohol Education and Training is required for anyone serving or selling alcohol in a safe and responsible manner.  BTW, they are always looking for people to become trainers!

Now what you call your place is completely up to you!
