Is Your Car on the List? Montana’s Top Speeding Offenders Revealed

Hitting Montana's roads in the spring and summer can be exciting. You never know what you are going to get. The weather can change suddenly and you never know when you're going to encounter construction.

There is one thing that you can count on and that is drivers are going to start driving faster. With some of our roads having 80-mile-an-hour speed limits, you will encounter fast vehicles.

You will also encounter RVs on our roads, keep your eyes open for slower moving vehicles too.

When it comes to speeding, the law says that it's the driver at fault. Not the vehicle itself. But the type of vehicle can contribute to how fast a driver goes. Over the years I have had vehicles that wouldn't go fast enough to pass the 80-mile-an-hour speed limit, so I wasn't ever afraid of getting speeding tickets.

These days there are plenty of vehicles that go much faster than the posted speed limit and when drivers push them beyond the law, they can get a ticket or worse get into an accident.

Insurify.com has listed the models of cars that got the most speeding tickets in 2024 and you can see these vehicles on Montana's roads. The number one vehicle with the most speeding tickets is surprisingly a Subaru.

Montana has its share of Subarus, and drivers of the Subaru BRZ got the most speeding tickets last year. The Subaru WRX also made the list coming in at number six on the list.

A couple other surprising vehicles that made the list are the Scion tC, Scion FR-S, and the Toyota Yaris iA. Even though the Yaris iA only has 106 horsepower, the lowest out of any car on the list, it doesn't stop its owners from putting the pedal to the metal.

The dangers of speeding are well known. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in 2022, speeding killed 12,151 people on the nation's highways.
