There's no question that Montana is a great place if you love the outdoors. Yesterday we were talking about some of the most beautiful natural landmarks in Montana and received many great recommendations, including this one, which you may have never been to, but it's cool.

One part of Montana was even named one of the best remote wilderness areas in the US, so Montana has some serious credibility when it comes to the outdoors.

But the folks at Study Finds just did an analysis of most outdoorsy states based on expert opinions and came up with their top seven. It's no surprise that Montana would end up on this list, but it looks like Montana is ranked higher than two states and one in particular falls too far down the list. Let's take a look at how a few states ranked.

Again, based on the opinion of travel experts, the #1 state for outdoorsy types is California. This might be because of the nine national parks located there. But you can also partake in just about any kind of outdoor activity because California has mountains, an ocean, lakes, and deserts. There are bountiful opportunities for outdoorsy types.

Utah comes in at #2 and has five national parks, so maybe national parks were a big factor in this ranking.

Montana ranks at #4, and we all know why Montana deserves to be on a list like this. We've got national parks too, and mountains, lakes and rivers. But Washington comes in at #5 and I think it could be argued that because Washington has mountains and ocean, it might be more outdoorsy than Montana.

But the state that comes in at #6 is Alaska. What?! How is it that any state is more outdoorsy than Alaska? It has its fair share of national parks, but I wonder if it's because much of the state is inaccessible that it doesn't rank higher on this list.

Meanwhile, Wyoming isn’t anywhere on the list. Do you think the experts got this list right?
