The Missoula business landscape is changing once again. We have seen a lot of changes over the past couple years with businesses moving, opening, changing hands or closing their doors all together.

Missoula Loses Another Car Dealer

In July, Northwest Motorsport, located at 1600 Stephens Avenue, sent out an email to their customers stating that they were going to be "temporarily suspending their operations" in the Missoula location. It has now become a permanent change.

Missoula Isn't the Only Location That Has Closed

I reached out to Northwest Motorsport and spoke with Kyle Lewis, the General Sales Manager of their Spokane, Washington location. I asked about the closure of their Missoula location and he confirmed this is a permanent decision. He also informed me they have closed their Boise, Idaho location too.

Used Car Inventory Has Been an Issue

The main reason given for the closure was the difficulty in keeping a quality used truck and SUV inventory in the Missoula and Boise markets. They are going to continue to operate their Spokane location as well as their Pasco, Washington location. They will also continue to sell vehicles online at NWMSROCKS.com. Before they opened the Missoula location they did a lot of online business in Western Montana. They will continue to do business in Montana and will deliver vehicles when needed.

Northwest Motorsport Made A Difficult Decision About Missoula

Kyle wanted to stress that they very much appreciate Missoula and the customers they made here. Northwest Motorsport just couldn't make it work with the climate of the used vehicle industry nationwide. They had to make the difficult decision to close the Missoula location and consolidate their business to be successful.
