As Missoula continues to evolve and grow, so does our airport. Expansion and improvements have been needed for quite some time.

One big piece of news is that Missoula's airspace will be a little quieter at the beginning of September, as the runways will be closed to undergo major upgrades.

There will be more concession areas opening soon. I spoke with the Missoula Airport Deputy Director, Tim Damrow about some of the updates and changes.

Damrow spoke about the opening of two new concession areas in the East Concourse. The first is going to be an MSO Marketplace that will be coffee and retail shops. MSO Marketplace will also have a kitchen and will offer a slightly different menu than the current Kettlehouse Restaurant. There will also be the airports first robot employee.

There will also be an MSO Taphouse which will be another bar area. According to Damrow, it will be a "carbon copy" of the existing bar and expand the beer selection to include more local beer choices for airport patrons.

New Food and Beverage Options at MSO

The airport is aiming for an event celebrating the opening of the two new locations on August 7.

There is some more good news at the airport. There is going to be more parking. With the expansion, they are moving the car rental agencies back into the building. Once renovations are complete in that area, it will open up approximately 300 more long-term parking spaces for travelers.

The airport is especially busy these days, particularly around the holidays. Having more parking options will help make the traveling experience better for all.
