Mother's Day is coming right up and you may be looking for something to do for your mother.

Flowers, of course, are a popular option, and if you're thinking, "Maybe I'll pick some flowers for my mom," that's certainly a sweet idea, but it might not be easy.

I received an email on behalf of the website First Saturday Lime that did some data-crunching to find the most searched flower in Montana for Mother's Day. They looked at the flowers that were trending during May, and somewhat unsurprisingly, Lilacs are the flowers that are trending in Montana for Mother's Day.

But here's the kicker. Just because "lilacs" are trending in Montana during the month of May doesn't mean they're the most popular flower for Mother's Day.

In fact, they almost can't be the most popular flower for Mother's Day. Why?

Because they haven't even bloomed yet.

Mother's Day this year falls on May 12. Today is May 9. Here are a few pictures of a lilac bush in Missoula, Montana that I took today:

Lilacs do bloom in May and it makes perfect sense that they would be trending on Google in Montana. It's just probably not the flower that people are giving their mothers on Mother's Day.

Then again, the bush above, or other bushes, might bloom in three days or already have flowers, but I kind of doubt it.
