The weather is cooling down and the leaves are staring to change and fall from the trees, that could only mean one thing. Autumn is very close. Fall foliage in Montana is spectacular. Let's keep that to ourselves.

Montana Didn't Make the List, This Time

CNN Travel has ranked some of the best fall foliage drives across the nation and Montana didn't make the list. I think there are a lot of people in Montana that are just fine with that. One of our neighbors made did make the list.

The Eastern Part of the Country Makes the List

With a list like this you knew there would be some places in the eastern part of the country, like the Mohawk Trail Scenic Byway in Massachusetts. They have also included a couple routes in the south, the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina and Virginia and the Appalachian Highlands Scenic Byway have also made the list.

Two places in the west made the list, the High Road To Taos Scenic Byway in New Mexico, and our neighbors in Idaho made the list with the Salmon River Scenic Byway.

Idaho's Salmon River Scenic Byway Made the List

The drive along the Salmon River Scenic Byway is a beautiful drive. I haven't had the opportunity to drive it in the fall, but I have driven it quite a few times in the winter and it is a very beautiful drive.

Montana has quite a few drives that could rival some of the ones that have made the list. Glacier National Park in the fall can be breathtaking. Driving around the Seeley-Swan, mountains are amazing. Taking a fall drive around Flathead Lake is special too, but let's keep all these wonderful places between ourselves.
