When it comes to the workplace I have a lot of experience. But my workplaces have been a little different from your average workspace. Working in a radio station for decades doesn't make for a "normal" workplace. For one thing there is music playing all the time, and most of the people you work with are loud.

There has been a lot of discussion recently about workers returning to the workplace. When the pandemic hit, a lot of workers were able to work remotely. There are still some workers who haven't returned back to working in an office.

During the pandemic, some of us in radio weren't able to work remotely. We still went into the office every day. When it comes to workplace culture there is a lot that goes into it. There are the hours people work, the money they make, the time off they get, and more. With all those things in mind, Montana is one of the worst states for workplace culture in the country.

According to People Managing People, which analyzed the states with the best workplace culture, Montana is near the bottom of the list. The report included Washington D.C. in their analysis, which happens to top the list of the best places for workplace culture. Montana comes in at forty-nine.

Two of our neighbors are the only states that fare worse than Montana. Wyoming and Idaho are at bottom of the list, with Idaho coming in last.

The report looked at metrics like how many hours employees work, employee quit rate, worker protections, and benefits.

Montana has one of the highest quit rates in 2024 at 3%. Our salary growth rate between 2021-2023 increased by 13.3% with an average salary of $55,920.

This is one report that I can't say I agree or disagree with since the workplaces in my career have been anything but "normal".
