Airbnb may be a polarizing company, especially when there's a shortage of affordable housing in several Montana cities, but one thing I like about the concept is the opportunity to stay in really unique places: like a grain silo.

Unlike other properties, grain silos aren't exactly real estate that someone would expect to rent out on a regular basis. This goes for some of the other unique experiences on Airbnb, too, like the yurts or treehouses.

If you grew up on a ranch or farm, a grain silo might be the last place you'd want to spend the night. Whether you've been around silos your whole life or not, spending the night in a round room or round structure could be quite interesting.

Montana Has at Least 3 Grain Silos Listed on Airbnb

I found three separate properties when searching for converted grain silos in Montana on Airbnb. These each have a bit of personality, and they're all located in western Montana.

"Panoramic Views & Dog Heave at The Silo" can host four guests in two bedrooms with two beds and one and a half baths for $200 a night. This property features a two-story living space and "Acres on which to roam with your dog leash free (pet fee)..." The host description also mentions that the property used to be a working dairy farm and that "three out of four original generations still make their home on this location."

While this listing is for "Clark Farm Silos #2 - Incredible Mountain Views," the host mentions there are actually five silos on the property. This particular Silo allows for three guests in one bedroom with two beds and one bath. It runs $286 per night. Among the notes, it says that "each silo... [is] strategically placed for maximum privacy and panoramic views." Even if there might be other guests at the property, it sounds like it would still feel like a singular experience.
