Sometimes, great things happen on social media.

I asked a question about where was the most unlikely place to get a good meal in Montana and I thought I would get recommendations for bowling alleys, or maybe even a hospital cafeteria. But something very interesting happened instead.

Recommendations for bars and restaurants in some of Montana's smallest towns started pouring in. And I realized then that Montana's biggest cities--Missoula, Bozeman, Billings, Great Falls, Helena etc.--are the ones that are usually featured when there's any discussion of food.

I was truly delighted to see so much love for places in Montana that don't often get attention. Of course, there were a few recommendations for "your mom's house" or "the county jail" but there were dozens of genuine recommendations for places in Montana towns with populations as few as 26 people.
